SHOES Düsseldorf New ‘old’ dates for spring 2023
If there is anything you learn in the exhibition business, it’s flexibility!
Successfully held in August, SHOES DÜSSELDORF will be brought forward by one week for the new Spring 2023 order cycle. The reason: Euroshop – The World’s No.1 Retail Trade Fair, which runs only every three years, will be held in line with its cycle at the premises of Messe Düsseldorf GmbH at that time resulting in exorbitantly high hotel prices (increases by up to 70%).
Ulrike Kähler, the Managing Director of Igedo Company and responsible for SHOES DÜSSELDORF, heard massive complaints from exhibitors time and again about the excessive hotel room rates in Düsseldorf for the end of February 2023, on her tours in the exhibition halls of Areal Böhler. “As an experienced event organiser I am, of course, aware of this issue but it has never been this stark before. Apparently, hotels are trying to recoup any turnover lost during the pandemic as quickly as possible.” Ms Kähler doubts whether this is the right tactic. But, of course, the pricing policy of the hotel industry cannot be changed, she adds, and so, in the interest and for the benefit of its exhibitors and visitors, the Igedo Company has decided to go back to the original dates of 5 – 7 March 2023.
“Due to the very complex and tight calendar of the shoe industry, we will slightly adjust the opening hours for the duration 5 – 7 March 2023,” Ulrike Kähler adds.
5 – 6 March 2023 / 9.30 am to 7.00 pm
7 March 2023 / 9.30 am to 3.00 pm
As a reminder, the Igedo Company had deliberately moved the date of SHOES DÜSSELDORF forward by one week (26 – 28 February 2023) on account of the supply chain problems existing in the footwear industry, in order to give those involved in the sector more time and planning security. So now it’s back to the original and, of course, tried and tested date. “We want our exhibitors to feel at home in Düsseldorf and enjoy coming to us,” says Ulrike Kähler who assumes that with the dates now chosen all exhibitors and visitors will find their way to Düsseldorf.
