LOOKING FORWARD TO SHOES DÜSSELDORF

[ August 7, 2023 ]

After the fair is before the fair. On the occasion of FASHN ROOMS and Neonyt Düsseldorf, we spoke to Igedo Managing Director Ulrike Kähler about the upcoming SHOES DÜSSELDORF trade show. The international trade show for shoes, fashion and accessories will take place in Düsseldorf from August 27 – 29. And we can again expect a curated range of international brands at the upcoming edition.

In a few weeks, the shoe event par excellence will take place in Düsseldorf, SHOES DÜSSELDORF opens its doors! The anticipation is rising. The international shoe industry can hardly wait to meet at SHOES DÜSSELDORF on Areal Böhler. How many exhibitors will be on site?

Ulrike Kähler: I am very pleased that I can say again this time: SHOES DÜSSELDORF is booked up to the last corner. All halls are occupied. We are expecting a good 500 brands of national and international origin. Fashionable brands from Italy and Spain will be particularly well represented, but shoe suppliers from Germany and other countries will also be flying the flag at SHOES DÜSSELDORF.

Which segments does SHOES DÜSSELDORF include?

Ulrike Kähler: Our offer includes women’s, men’s and children’s shoes, with fashionable women’s shoes making up the lion’s share of SHOES DÜSSELDORF. We are very pleased to have been able to expand the range of children’s shoes. The “Kids Corner” area, which was successfully introduced last time, will again be featured in cooperation with the organizer Squares.

Shoes and fashion are inextricably linked, aren’t they? What can visitors look forward to?

Ulrike Kähler: What we show at SHOES DÜSSELDORF can probably not be experienced in this form at any other shoe fair. At SHOES DÜSSELDORF, visitors can look forward not only to a great range of shoes and complementary, high-quality accessories such as bags and costume jewelry, but also to a wide variety of other products such as bags and costume jewelry. Thanks to our close ties with the textile industry, they will also have the opportunity to view and order trendy womenswear. We are sure that this will give retailers a groundbreaking advantage in staging emotion and fashion know-how on the sales floor.

What is new? What role does the topic of sustainability play?

Ulrike Kähler: For the next issue, we will be highlighting the topic of sustainability even more strongly. The aim is to promote the change towards more sustainability and fairness. The “Sustainable Store Sharing Concept inspired by STORE 13 Herford” promises to provide exciting impetus. The concept exemplifies how sustainable worlds of experience can be created in retail, and this can be experienced and implemented beyond fashion and shoes, e.g. through sustainable interiors, art and accessories.

We believe that this concept could also be very interesting for the shoe trade. Our goal is to take retailers by the hand and introduce them to new successful and viable retail concepts.

SHOES DÜSSELDORF is known for its exciting side events. Will there be a supporting program again for the upcoming edition?

Ulrike Kähler:Of course. In line with our motto “Move on,” we will be holding a talk on sustainability in addition to various trend presentations and the popular TW-Orderinfo, which will focus on practical suggestions for implementing sustainability strategies in retail. We will also be taking a closer look at the important topic of children’s shoes. Here, too, we could imagine an expert talk.

Last but not least, SHOES DÜSSELDORF serves as an indispensable communication platform for exhibitors and visitors beyond the order. We are already looking forward to a lively exchange in the chill-out area between the individual halls.
